What Happened at Consume Media in 2021?

January 5, 2022

A lot happened in 2021.

Internal Growth

In 2021, Consume Media went from 11 employees to 16 employees, hiring an editor, designer, project manager, digital marketer, and junior producer. We also welcomed two new office dogs – Zadie and Kacey. Our first annual team retreat took place in Asheville, where we also had the first Consume Olympics.

Product Growth

Our Product is always evolving. This year, we really leaned into categorizing the types of videos we create as either Cinematic or Content.

The main difference is that our Cinematic videos often use professional actors and tell a scripted narrative- such as TV Commercials and Live Action Explainer Videos. Content videos are often more corporate and informational- such as testimonials, thought leadership content, and animated how-tos.

Production Growth

Speaking of production, this year, we had our two largest productions to date with our friends at Enosix and Terminus. We also created our longest video yet when our friends at AvidXchange went public.

Client Growth

We consider ourselves industry agnostic, but with over half of our clients as tech companies, we’ve become SaaS experts over the last few years. We welcomed a lot of new clients and have continued working with a lot of past clients to continue our nearly 100% retention rate.

Year in Review

For the second year in a row we made it on the Bulldog 100, which is a list that recognizes the 100 fastest growing companies run by UGA alum. We also made it on the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Pacesetters, which is a list of the 100 fastest growing companies in Atlanta. We were number 99? Yes. Still counts.

In 2021, we learned about mid-market accounting automation software, technology that keeps kids safe online, and how bales of hay get transported. Thank you to everyone who helped us grow this year. We are nothing without our fantastic clients and friends. Here’s to making more cool sh*t in 2022!
